Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join Student Council?
Student Council is open to all students of Westwood High School and anyone can join at any point during the school year.

Where are meetings held?
Typically, meetings are held in Ms. Martinez's room (our sponsor) room E2214. We do host off campus meetings for committee projects occasionally.

When are meetings held?
On the second Tuesday of each month two meetings are held, one in the morning, usually at 8:30 am and one in the afternoon at 4:30. Members and club reps only need to attend one. If the second Tuesday becomes unavailable, an email will always be sent out to notify members about the meeting change.

Can I be a part of the email list for new announcements and meeting information?
OF COURSE. Check the Contact page, or email westwoodstuco@gmail.com to be added to the list.

What kind of stuff does StuCo do?
Student Council hosts a multitude of school and service events as part of committee meetings. StuCo also helps organize school wide events, such as canned food drives, Homecoming, Prom, Doggy Dash, Valentine's Day Dance, Just Chillin. Please visit the committee pages for more information about committee projects.

What other media does Student Council have?
In addition to the Student Council email and website, there is a StuCo Facebook and Twitter (both on Contacts Page) and Snapchat:westwood.stuco .

How can I become an officer?
Officer elections are held in the spring. To become an officer, you will need a minimum of 50 StuCo hours before you are allowed to run for officer. For more information, please contact us!

What are Student Council points and how can I get them?
Student Council has a point system for all members. Members can obtain points by attending meetings, donating services and supplies for projects, and through many other means.

I've graduated and I don't want to be on the emailing list anymore, what should I do?
Please email us and we'll remove your name from the emailing list.

I am a club rep. What do I need to do?
Club reps need to attend the monthly general student council meetings. Clubs are welcome to submit club announcements and present at these meetings. Please talk to Ms. Martinez about your club if you wish to do so.

There's a service project that I would like to do with Student Council. How to I submit my ideas?
We welcome all project ideas and love to hear about new ways to reach out to the community. Please email the Student Council gmail or if your project can work hand in hand with a committee, feel free to email the committee heads directly.

I have a question that isn't on this page :(
Feel free to email westwoodstuco@gmail.com at any time with your question!
